This is the second of six mini summer vacation episodes of Talking About Kids. To help listeners have a rejuvenating summer, I asked some previous guests to recommend movies or episodes of TV shows to inspire parents, educators, and direct service providers. This second recommendation comes from Sarah Lindstrom Johnson, Associate Professor in the T. Denny Sanford School of Social and Family Dynamics at Arizona State University. More information is below.

Biography of Sarah Lindstrom Johnson

Dr. Sarah Lindstrom Johnson's work takes a positive youth development approach towards identifying ways to prevent youth involvement in risk behaviors, which focuses on supporting development assets and improving the environments in which youth learn and grow. Much of her work involves partnerships with youth serving organizations such as schools, primary care clinics, and community organizations. She has a particular interest in understanding the consequences of exposure to and involvement in violence and creating family, school, and neighborhood environments where violence is less likely to occur or the consequences of violence are mitigated. As her training is in public health, she is passionate about developing solutions that are feasible and sustainable and that have the potential for impact across communities. Thus Dr. Lindstrom Johnson's work often involves trials of preventative interventions within these settings.
